Not a big story in a game when 18th ranked DutchBAL Weert (2-16) was defeated at home by third ranked Belgian Kangoeroes (14-5) 77-70 on Saturday. Mechelen made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Aundre Hyatt (198-2000, college: Rutgers) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Swedish forward Zaba Bangala (201-2001) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. French Hugo Minnig (197-2002) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and French center Lionel Colson (206-2002) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kangoeroes have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Mechelen maintains third position with 14-5 record having just three points less than leader Oostende. BAL Weert lost fourteenth consecutive game. They keep the eighteenth place with 16 games lost.
